- Statistical Analysis (R, SPSS) - Certification from the University of Washington's Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences
- Global Health - Certificate from the University of Washington's School of Public Health. Capstone project worked on identifying significant factors contributing to child bride status for children in Bangladesh
- Focus Group Training - Trained in focus group moderation, ethics, procedures, and data interpretation
- Interview Training - Trained in interviewing, including script creation, motivated interviewing, transcription, and data analysis
- Usability Testing - Trained in various UX methods, including usability testing to produce key user insights and drive product development
- Grant Writing - Trained in developing grants, funding mechanisms, and writing grant proposals
I have research experience working on the following projects:
- The Digital Divide: Information Brokering and Technology Learning for Latino Families (Drs. Carmen Gonzalez, University of Washington Department of Communication, & Jason Yip, University of Washington iSchool)
- Evaluates user learning and interaction on various technology platforms as it relates to information brokering for traditionally marginalized populations in the greater Seattle area
- Contributed to study design, creating a multi-level, four year mixed methods design project to investigate the digital divide among technology brokering in Latino families
- Conducted ~50 interviews with Latino families, including individual interviews and co-searching and collaboration interviews with a parent-child dyad
- Performed data analysis through open coding, resulting in various manuscripts and conference presentations
- Synthesized findings from the study into deliverables and recommendations for improving user interfaces in order to utilize various technology platforms to help decrease the digital divide
- Reactance to Smoking Susceptibility in Highly Reactant Youth (Dr. Meghan Brigid Moran, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health)
- Assessed the role of reactance to smoking susceptibility in highly reactant youth through data analysis conducted with youth in the greater Los Angeles area
- Identified social media campaigns to test reactance and smoking, providing recommendations for key improvements for future health communication research
- Analyzed various message components to identify key triggers for reactance related to marketing messages for youth
- Creating Communication Strategies for Healthcare Professionals in Integrative Medicine (Dr. Patricia Geist-Martin, San Diego State University School of Communication)
- Conducted interviews with healthcare professionals to uncover challenges to communication in the workplace which prohibit best practice of care
- Performed open coding throughout data analysis to produce key recommendations for healthcare providers to implement in workplace settings
- Assisted in research design, forming research questions and crafting methods to best answer questions of communication challenges in integrative medicine clinical settings
